ABOUT WEMUN

A unique diplomatic
experience.

WEMUN – We The People, Model United Nations – is an international
educational program that gathers high-school and university students
from across the globe to simulate the work of the UN within its Committees. Each edition takes place in a city of global significance, in venues of institutional standing, with a program curated by experts in
international relations and education.

WEMUN Japan, Kobe 2027 carries that mission to East Asia, anchoring it in a city where tradition meets the future. Kobe is a port city that has
welcomed the world for centuries curious, cosmopolitan, forward looking. For three days in February 2027, it becomes the seat of a new
generation of global voices.

WHY PARTICIPATE

What you build
in three days.

Every delegate leaves WEMUN with skills no classroom can teach the same way.

01 – Public Speaking

Learn to speak up when it matters most.

Defending a country’s position before an audience of one hundred international delegates is not an exercise. It is the real situation.

02 – Leadership

Lead a negotiation, don't just take part in one.

Build coalitions, mediate opposing positions and reach agreements under pressure. Leadership is what shows up in difficult moments.

03 – Network

Your international network starts here.

Today’s fellow delegates become tomorrow’s colleagues, partners and friends. Students from over 50 countries who share ambition and curiosity.

04 – Diplomacy

Understand how diplomacy actually works.

Engage with international law, multilateral decision-making and global power dynamics, not in theory but through direct practice.

05 – University

An experience that speaks for itself in applications.

International universities recognise the value of experiences such as WEMUN: critical thinking, global perspective and personal initiative.

06 – Culture

A city as a classroom.
The world as a perspective.

Experiencing Kobe and Japan during an international conference is unlike any school trip. Between committee sessions you discover the Kansai region, and take home a different relationship with the world.

THE CITY

Kobe: the
destination is not
just a backdrop.

Japan’s Kansai region is one of the most historically and culturally rich areas on earth and one of the most dynamic.
With Kobe as home base, the wonders of Kansai are within easy reach. When the committee sessions close, the country opens.

Kobe

A port city shaped by centuries of international exchange, Japan's most cosmopolitan city by instinct, and the natural home for a conference built on global dialogue.

Kyoto & Nara

Less than an hour from Kobe: over 1,600 temples and UNESCO districts in Kyoto, and the Iconic Tori of Fushimi-Inari!.

Nara Park

Visit the Giant Buddha and the sacred deers of Nara Park

Osaka

Twenty minutes from Kobe: neon-lit Dotonbori, historic Osaka Castle and a city that moves fast - the perfect counterpoint to the committee room.

WHY WEMUN

What you take home from Kobe

Authentic diplomacy

Not a simulation of how it could work. An exact reproduction of how it actually does: UN procedures, real committees, decision making under pressure

Japan beyond the committee room

Kobe is your base for the Kansai region: the temples of Kyoto, the sacred deer of Nara, the energy of Osaka. You leave with a country discovered, not just a conference attended.

A global network

High School and University studentsfrom over 50 countries. Today they’re the delegate next to you. Tomorrow they’re a contact on three continents.

Kobe Portopia Hotel

Defined by openness and the meeting of East and West, Kobe is the most natural setting for a conference built on the idea that dialogue changes things.
